The 2022–2023 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships, which are fully financed, are now accepting applications from deserving postgraduate students worldwide. Academic Excellence, Research Potential, and Leadership are the three equally weighted selection criteria for this three-year, $50,000 per awardee fellowship during PhD study.
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program was established by the Canadian government in 2008 with the goal of enhancing Canada's capacity to draw in and keep top-tier doctoral students and to position the country as a global hub of excellence in research and higher education. Vanier Scholars exhibit scholarly excellence and leadership qualities while pursuing graduate degrees in the social and humanities, sciences, engineering, or medicine.
The Canadian government is the sponsor(s) of the scholarship.
Fully funded scholarships are one type of scholarship.
Canadian universities and institutions are the host institution(s).
Scholarship Value: $50,000 each year for three years.
Up to 166 scholarships may be given out each year.

Application Procedures
Application Timelines:
July – November 2022: Candidates search for a candidate organization, prepare and submit an application.
Internal Deadline (varies): Deadline for submitting applications to the applicant organization. Contact the nominating organization for a specific date.
November 2, 2022 (20:00 EST): Deadline for institutions to submit nominations to the Vanier CGS program.
November 2022 – March 2023: Review and evaluation of nominations.
Early April 2023: Notification of results in advance. Candidates will be notified via email when the results are available on ResearchNet.
May 1, 2023, September 1, 2023 or January 1, 2024: Payments begin.
